Pakistan Textile Exports to EU

According to the ATP, Pakistan’s textile exports to the EU-27 are expected to expand.

Recently, from Pakistan Federation of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), Pakistan’s textile exports to the EU are expected to increase by 31%, due to the EU’s implementation of its own trade discount program. FCCI** said: "In the fiscal year of last year, Pakistan exported 1.709 billion U.S. dollars to the EU, and this year's exports to the EU are expected to increase by 537 million to 2.246 billion U.S. dollars."

According to this plan, the EU has allowed 75 Pakistani products to enter the EU market duty-free, mostly textile and apparel products. As of December 31, 2013, 26 products were subject to management quotas, and the rest were non-tariff-adjusted quotas from November. Effective on the 15th.

FCCI** said: "Exporters will benefit from the free trade incentive plan. On the one hand, due to the adjustment of the quota system, exports will continue to expand. On the other hand, Pakistan will further gain trade concessions after reviewing the quota system in 2014. However, due to the shortage of electricity and natural gas supply, Pakistan’s overall import and export decline in the past few months has decreased by 2.3% in the first quarter of this financial year since July 1, while imports have fallen by 6% year-on-year.”
